Shining Stars is an exciting new two-week program that provides students with an opportunity to explore all areas of Musical Theater and culminates in a production of Disney's Lion King Kids. The Shining Stars experience offers young actors the chance to learn more about the stage and be a part of a live theatre production. Areas of study include Auditioning, Staging, Character Development, Vocal Techniques, Creative Dramatics, Direction, Improvisation & Evaluation. This workshop challenges young actors and is designed for everyone from beginners to experienced thespians. Shining Stars culminates with a performance of Disney's Lion King Kids.
Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world and now, for the first time ever, young actors have the opportunity to be part of this one-of-a-kind musical. The African savannah comes to life with Simba, Rafiki, and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.
Scholarships are available upon request through our Angel Program and the Lakewood Center Associates.
Meet The Instructors
Julie Lane is an educational coordinator for the West Linn-Wilsonville School District and in her spare time directs the 100+ person, double-cast "West Linn-Wilsonville Middle School Musical" presenting popular classics such as Little Mermaid, Shrek, Grease (School Edition), Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Bye Bye Birdie. She believes in the power of theatre, especially for today's youth, and can't wait to work with the Lakewood team again to bring more young people to the stage.Kaeli Porter is a choir director and drama teacher at Inza Wood Middle School in Wilsonville. Eve Brindis is a dance educator and choreographer in Portland, OR. She received her BA from Linfield College. She teaches youth and adult classes at various schools and studios including Spotlight Musical Theatre Academy. Most recently she choreographed Elf Jr and Shrek Jr at Lakewood Theatre. Her training includes ballet, contemporary, jazz, modern, musical theatre and tap. Her choreography has been seen in Celestial, Night in New Orleans, Cabaret and Clara's Dream: A Jazz Nutcracker at Linfield's Marshall Theatre where she directed the dance ensemble for the last four years.

Lakewood has installed a new UV-C air purification system to continuously sanitize the theatre and rooms at Lakewood. In addition, all ventilation systems have been upgraded to MERV 13.
